Can You Become Conscious of Your 50-70,000 Thoughts a Day?

We think 50,000 to 70,000 thoughts per day.

And approximately 90% of those thoughts are the same as yesterday…

You see our brain wants to help us.

It wants to make our life as easy as possible for us.

So what the brain does to help us and make our life more manageable, is it creates nice neural pathways in our brain that allow us to go into “auto-pilot” mode.

(Auto-pilot mode so we don’t have to think of everything all the time).

This is how habits are created.

You cross your hands a certain way without having to think.

“Yeah, that’s right I put this right arm over that left arm and then I lean them back into my solar plexus area”.

You don’t need to bother consciously thinking about this.

The neural pathway is set and you cross your hands automatically… and most of the time… without noticing.

This is the same for our thoughts.

The neural pathway is set and you just thought something negatively on automatic mode… without noticing it.

This is why you feel good or bad sometimes for no apparent reason.

Nothing good actually came into your life.

You didn’t win on the pokies, you didn’t get a job promotion, you didn’t narrowly miss a parking fine.

And nothing bad actually came into your life.

Your dog didn’t die, your girlfriend didn’t dump you, you didn’t sit on a thumb tack.

But you now feel good or bad because of your subconscious thoughts that have led you that way.

This is why we sometimes have “bad days” for no apparent reason and “good days” for no apparent reason.

The key to achieving more happiness in life and having more good days then bad, is by becoming more aware of A.N.Ts

When you become aware of what you are actually saying to yourself in your mind you begin to take back control over your life.

You retain the steering wheel to your ship.

How do you become aware of what you are thinking?

Well, meditation helps.

Staying in the moment helps.

Or 3 minute interval alarms on your phone help. (What I do haha).

Become more aware and the negative thoughts lose their power.

As you become more aware you see them for what they really are.

Imaginations of the mind.

You are not a fortune teller.

You cannot tell the future.

But you can aim yourself toward a desired future via your conscious thought actions.

Become aware.

What do you choose to think?

Why The UFC is so Smart

If I can make you 1$ richer, would you pay me 20 cents?

When you think of your competition in business what first comes to mind?

Crush them?

Kill them?

Help them?

Help them??? wait a minute, WTF? Why would you wanna help them?

Most people walking this Earth probably think CRUSH THEM

And yeah, I get that, I can understand why most people would think that.

But, why crush them when you can help them and they can help you?

It’s an abundant world out there (in my opinion) and there is ALWAYS MORE to go round.

So, why not team up with your competition and share the profits? Because, that’s what the UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship) did.

You see, the UFC has their own events.

You know the Conor Mcgregor fights, the Ronda Rousey fights, the Daniel Cormier fights etc. etc.

But the UFC also knows that they are not alone and that there are other events and organisations airing their own fights…

Cage Rage, Glory, Elite FC, King of The Cage etc. etc.

So, why does the UFC not simply attempt to crush these organisations by bad mouthing them as inferior, airing shows at the same time as them or by extreme advertising tactics?

Because, the UFC knows that there is more money to be made in joining forces with these smaller organisations, rather than crushing them!

So, how has the UFC joined forces with their competitors? By streaming their competitors events via UFC Fight Pass (a paid membership website owned by the UFC and designed for MMA fans that want to watch major MMA, kickboxing and grappling events from around the world live and on demand).

This creates a win-win situation for both the UFC and their competitors.

The smaller events get increased exposure and the UFC increases their revenue by charging out more memberships to UFC Fight Pass.

I can also imagine that the UFC knows that in helping these smaller competitor organisations, they also know that they will in turn further expand the sport of MMA, which would overall increase the UFCs fan base and profitability.

So, my question to you today is what competitors can you team up with?

How can you break bread with someone else to increase your own and their own profitability?

Options are limitless, the world does not always have to be dog eat dog!

Thank-you for reading.

Is Music Making You Unhappy?

Is music making you unhappy?

“Kill this bitch, steal this girl, coke, dope, smack and crack”.

My ears love the sound hip hop music gives to me.

But then again, if I was to do some cocaine I’m sure my body would love the feeling of that too…

Now, some hip hop music can be light and uplifting, but some hip hop music can be harsh and angry.

My question today is, can music change your vibration and make you feel different on the inside?

I used to listen to Metallica when I was younger.

And other bands that played angry styled music like KoRn, Slipknot, Disturbed etc. etc.

Did this angry styled music have an effect on me?

I believe it very well did.

As an artist goes deep into a certain state of emotion to create a certain piece of music, I believe that their creation is welded together with their emotions, and when listened to by the audience, it is carried through and effects them.

The emotions of that artist are transmuted into their voice and instruments, creating a musical piece that vibrates either positively or negatively.

Which you, as the audience, then listen to and are influenced by.

Does happy music make you feel happy? Does sad music make you feel sad? Does angry music make you feel angry?

Did you know we are made up of 75% water?

I remember seeing this video on Youtube where this Japanese scientist played different kinds of music to water in test tubes. He then looked at each sample of water’s molecules under a microscope to see if there were any changes.

The results were amazing…

The angry metal music made the water molecules look all chopped and harsh, while the classical music made the molecules look like clean, cut snowflakes.

Which is nuts if you think about it.

Next time you listen to music, talk to yourself, listen to your intuition.

Does this song make me feel anxious? Does this song make me feel sad? Does this song make me feel better?

Don’t choose a song that you think will make you feel better, listen to a song and see if it makes you feel better.

You may just need a song that helps you travel up the emotional scale.

The Emotional Scale:

1. Joy/Appreciation/Empowered/Freedom/Love
2. Passion
3. Enthusiasm/Eagerness/Happiness
4. Positive Expectation/Belief
5. Optimism
6. Hopefulness
7. Contentment
8. Boredom
9. Pessimism
10. Frustration/Irritation/Impatience
11. Overwhelment
12. Disappointment
13. Doubt
14. Worry
15. Blame
16. Discouragement
17. Anger
18. Revenge
19. Hatred/Rage
20. Jealousy
21. Insecurity/Guilt/Unworthiness
22. Fear/Grief/Depression/Despair/Powerlessness

Going from a fearful state all the way up to a state of joy may be too far a jump – that is why I say go with what feels right.

You may need to go from hopefulness to get to optimism and so on and so on.

Go with what feels right, you will know because you can feel it.

Best of luck and happy listening 🙂

Getting Up Early

It is well to be up before daybreak, for such habits contribute to health, wealth, and wisdom.
– Aristotle

I like getting up early.

When you get up early the world is quiet, the world is calm.

When you get up early, the world is.. your world.

Lately I’ve been getting up around 4:30-5:00 am, starting my morning meditation and then getting straight into my creative work.

I feel more fresh and creative in the morning.

I am definitely a morning person.

If you have a dream, a business or something else you want to work on I highly suggest getting up early one day and working on it to see if you prefer the advantages of the early morning.

The early morning is quiet, distraction free, all your friends and family are asleep and it’s dark outside, leaving you and your creations to intertwine peacefully and privately 🙂 .

You will be amazed at the level of accuracy, creativity and freedom you can emit early in the morning, before you go off to your job, get tired, come home and can’t be fucked to do anything.

Try it one morning and leave me a comment on how it goes.

If you want help waking up early here is a short 10 minute podcast by Steve Pavlina on how to wake up early that was helpful to me when I first started this practice.

Good luck.

The Importance of Staying Present

Yesterday I was reminded of the importance of staying in the moment.

I think I had been spending a lot of time with the voice in my head.

Too much time.

Today I want you to try staying in the moment.

Feel the seat on your ass, your feet on the floor, the wind brush your face, the touch of your hand to your internet device.

There is no fear or regret when you are in the moment.

It is impossible to feel fear of the future and regret of the past when you are in the moment.

Try to keep the voice in your head quiet and be like a dog.

You don’t see your dog worrying to much do you?

The dog is always present.

The dog lives in the moment and totally drinks in all experience, like most (if not all) other animals.

Meditation can help with this practice.

Try meditation today if you have not done it before.

5 minutes of quiet time listening and feeling the in-and-out flow of your breath with your eyes closed.

If you lose your focus, go back to breath.

Do not get angry if you lose focus, you may have never tried this before, go back to the breath and try to quite your mind.

Know that losing focus, IS a part of meditation and that each time you regain focus, you increase your ability to stay mindful of your thoughts.

There are gyms for lifting weights and there are gyms for strengthening your mind.

This is one of them.

Be quiet and just feel today.

PS. Here is the podcast I listened to yesterday that reminded me the importance of staying present. IT HAS GREAT INCITE IF YOU ARE NEW TO MEDITATION. (Can be found on iTunes podcast and Sticher for Android).

PPS. IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS ABOUT MEDIATION, “am I doing this right?”, do not hesitate to comment below and I will get back to you, if you are very stuck, we can Skype.

Leaving Cues of Excitement Around the House

When you spend money and buy something new and your excited about it…

There is nothing wrong with buying new things and keeping them around you.

Recently I bought two decks of daily affirmation cards.

And I was fucken pumped the fuck up that I bought them.

Now, I had the option to leave them in a drawer and get them out once a day to do my affirmation…

But I thought.. fuck that.

I’m gonna leave these babies out in the open of my room, so that every time I see them I feel good that these 2 new products are a part of my life.

If you’re like me and you believe in the Law of Attraction (LOA), leaving nice cues like this around the house can only benefit you.

And even if you don’t believe in the LOA, leaving cues like this around this house will at least make you happy when you see them :).

And there’s nothing wrong with that.

Here are the cards I bought, which can be purchased through Amazon via clicking on the images:

Don’t be a perfectionist.

Perfectionists never get anything done..

Simply because they’re trying to make everything… perfect.

Being a perfectionist will hold you back.

I need to become less of a perfectionist.

People that are the opposite of perfectionists generally have more fun.

What they say is.. good enough.

What they look like is.. good enough.

and the work they put out is generally.. good enough.

It sounds like a fun way to live.

Get your hands dirty and learn and improve along the way.

No one’s paying to see a man in the crowd, they’re paying to see the man in the arena.

So get the fuck up, get dirty and put something out there…

Because there will never be a perfect time.

I Told The Lady From The Depression Helpline…

I told the lady from the depression helpline that “I prefer to do things out of inspiration, not motivation”.

She replied saying “So, you like to do things you want to do and you don’t like to do things you don’t want to do?”.

I said “Well… yes”.

Then I said, “But I feel so lethargic. I feel so exhausted to pick myself up even though I know I need to do some things to make myself feel better. Should I do them?”

She said… “This is a characteristic of depression, feeling exhausted, you just have to push through what’s hard in order to feel better”.

I took her advice.

I got up.

I put my training gear on and went out and started beating the shit out of my heavy bag.

I felt better.

The momentum had begun to shift the other way.

As Law of Attraction channeller Abrahm-Hick’s teaches: Feeling good is momentum based.

If you’re feeling blue you have to try and slow the ball of momentum down, bring it to a halt and try to get it rolling the other way, downhill, towards feeling good.

Start small and build that momentum up.

Here is the route I took in order to start getting my internal ball to roll towards happiness:

1. I got out of bed and started exercising (I know this always makes me feel better. I made it a priority that I would commit to at least 30 minutes of training even though I didn’t feel like training for that long).

2. I started saying positive affirmations in my head to myself every so often.

“I can do this.”

“I feel better.”

“I want to feel better.”

3. I started mediating in the morning again (15 mins).

4. I started visualising the things I wanted to allow to come into my life through a meditative state in the morning again (5 mins).

5. I cleaned up my room. (I feel cleaner on the inside and overall better when my room is clean and tidy).

6. I started writing a nightly to do list for the next day and sent it off to my girlfriend, so that she could act as my accountability partner.

Here is the to do list I sent to her from day 2 of Operation Momentum Reversal:

a. Get up after 8.5 hours of sleep.

b. Meditate.

c. Find the best course for you (5 min).

(I’ve been looking into counselling courses lately, as I think this is a career I may be interested in. I set the timer for 5 minutes knowing full well that I would not be overwhelmed by it and that I would end up researching for longer).

d. Walk Riley (My dog, that is a Schnoodle).

e. Study something that will help me in my life for 30 minutes.

f. Visualise 5 min.

g. Start my 3 minute repeat timer on my phone to jolt me with an alarm every 3 minutes to remind me to watch my thoughts and reconsider what I may be thinking at that point in time. Here’s the app I use: Repeat Timer Pro.

This is a great mindfulness technique.

As you can see I tried to keep this to do list pretty simple and not too teasing, as I wanted to start the shift in momentum by keeping things light at first and building upon that.

Now it’s day 4 since releasing myself from this funk and I am now feeling much, much better and much more inside the vortex aka. feeling good.

In short, my learning from this challenge and my advice to YOU is that sometimes you HAVE to do the hard stuff in order to get yourself closer to happiness and to start feeling good again.

It is nice to be feeling good again.

The Macklemore and Lil Bow Wow Shopping Receipt Marketing Hack

“Okay, what did they buy? How much did they spend? Damn, Macklemore spent that much! He must be rich as heeeellll! haha he spent more than Bow Wow, he must be richer, well, yeah he probably is…”.

Talk about interesting.

Over the weekend I received a Culture Kings newsletter email, which cleverly included a copy of Lil Bow Wow’s (or just Bow Wow now?…) and Macklemore’s purchase receipts from their recent shopping experience with the urban mogule merchant.

I love seeing marketing pieces like this because they show ingenuity, as this is something I have never personally seen done before.

It shows that most businesses have the ability to capitalise on some form of celebrity endorsement marketing. Because everyone wants to be “cool” like celebrities…

Anyway, I know you want to see the receipts, so here they are.

Pretty cool, huh? and pretty smart.

This is not the first time Culture Kings has capitalised on celebrity endorsement marketing.

In the past they have cleverly done it with photos, blog posts and promo videos, such as the one below:

Marketing this way is good for both parties.

It’s a you scratch my back, I scratch your back type scenario.

More hype for the celebrities promoting their Australian tour and more hype for Culture Kings promoting their products.

And as the old cliche goes “if you got it, flaunt it”.

Well done Culture Kings.

Thoroughly impressed.
